For the love of Pete.....

I don't know about you guys, but I'm sick to death of morons who insist on calling themselves MCSE's who don't know squat. Not only that, I'm sick to death of Management (I use the term VERY loosely) that can't keep their heads out of their asses long enough to know a good thing when it hits them.

See, the issue stems from the fact that I'm leaving the company I work for now, to go to another job where I will actually get to use a REAL operating system (Linux!). Granted I was hired here to actually be used in situations where the other techs here couldn't handle it. Which means if it wasn't Windows, I was called in. Not only that, I'm the DB guy and a jack-of-all-trades kind of guy. However, I have felt the entire time here that I wasn't wanted. That I've over-stayed my welcome and they were looking for any excuse to get rid of me. And since I"m a consultant I get paid by Billable hours. And they have conveniently found ways to minimize my hours without making it totally obvious.

So, I get a job offer and I decide to take it. What do I get for my pains from these creeps? Nothing more than, "Well now we don't have to decide which of the two guys we interviewed to hire (we had another consultant leave about a month ago), we can hire them both."

No, 'Thanks for the work', 'Why are you leaving' or 'What can we do to make you stay?'. If I didn't have one last project to finish up prior to my leaving that NO ONE ELSE in the company can do, I'd be out on my ass now.

I really don't have any major qualms with anyone here, but geez, give a guy a pat on the back. Try to find out why he's leaving. Try to find out why no Consultant here has worked for them longer than 10 months. I mean even the biggest idiot can see there's a problem. But no, Management just blindly gropes on like a lemming looking for a cliff. Makes you wonder how these fools got their degrees.
