Who's a slacker?

Actually, that would be me. It's been ages since I posted crap, so I thought I'd make up for it by saying: No one gives a shit if I don't post. This is only for me to vent. I don't do this for fame, or glory, just as a way to keep from annoying my few friends with all my anger issues. While everyone else on the planet is bitching about movies or TV or whatever other childish complaint they have, I'll continue to do my own thing and let the world bend over and spell RUN.

I will however discuss my favorite subjects, mostly books and Classical History. I'm continuing to be amazed at the parallels between modern America and the Late Roman Republic (hence the name of my blog for those ignorants out there). The political infighting, the continued attempts by all levels of government to try to legislate MORALITY just amuses the hell out of me. How do you even being to impose your moral code on someone else? The more we try to do that, the harder those of us who prefer keeping those sorry bastards at arms length will fight back. I'm continually amused at the 'moral outrage' of those piss poor idiots, the Democrats (I wonder, do they KNOW what a democracy is according to Plato?) and their childish whining at video game makers for corrupting our young people. Have you ever considered, you MORONS that those ignorant baggy pants wearing imbeciles were corrupt prior to their purchasing Grand Theft Auto? Have you pillars of society even considered the possibility that it's not the GUN that kills people, but the SOB who pulls the f*cking trigger? Hell, no. Nor will they ever when American society is so docile that it just doesn't give a rat's ass anymore what the government does.

Does any of this sound familiar? Hasn't the world endured a similar set of circumstances? And where exactly did that lead us? Straight to the bloody Dark Ages. George Carlin made an interesting comment, that all systems are breaking down. That everything tends toward entropy. Granted he wasn't the author of those tidbits, but I just happened to be listening to a CD of his so I'll cite him as a reference. It all boils down to this, the peak of American society, the peak of 'Empire' for lack of a better term was 60 or so years ago. The 'greatest generation' was the pinnacle of American ingenuity and will power. The last generation with any desire or ambition to better themselves or give their all for their country and the planet. With them goes the flower of our country. After them we're all lazy, useless, unambitious cry-babies. I admit it, I'm not as forceful as I should be. Complacency is my tragic flaw. But at least I'm not a degenerate parent who thinks the schools should raise my kids, thinks that punishment should always be much less than the crime, and lets my kids watch whatever they want to, surf the websites they want to and listen to whatever pathetic crap they call music.

I give a damn about my country, I give a damn about my kids. It's not the government who should tell us what's right. Look at your grandparents. You know, those of us in the South fought a war against the very thing most people relish now, the intrusion of the government to make their decisions for them. It's a sad thing.
