What's really sad to me is that our so called 'intelligent' government leaders can't see what the real problem is with our country right now. The entire real estate 'bubble' along with the credit 'bubble', which has caused the economy to tank (and 84 banks to fail this year alone, has one common thread. The American consumer has put themselves neck deep in debt. Sure, credit card companies make it easy to get credit, but virtually impossible to get out of debt once in it. But the responsibility ultimately lies with the individual. GASP! Responsibility? Out of the question for people in this country any more.
But let's take this idea up one level and look at the federal government. We all know that the government has been running a debt for quite a while now. (Virtually since LBJ and Social Security) But, this current administration has taken our debt to whole new levels of scary. Let's examine just one part of the problem. The interest on the $748B (that's BILLION) TARP bailout package alone runs $100M a DAY. One hundred MILLION a day. In interest. A day. That's $36.5 BILLION a year in interest.
Now, let's look at the next 10 years. Obama's administration has put us $9 Trillion in debt over the next 10 years. What happens if we default on our loans, our lender forecloses on our house, or repos our car. What happens if the government defaults? Has ANYONE in Washington considered this at all? Are they really so shortsighted that the world is a bottomless pit of money we can continue to suck dry like a vampire? Are any of you scared yet?
If we default, we will cease to be a super power. Hell, we'll cease to be a power at all. The rest of world will carve up the country in order to recoup their losses. In effect the will REPOSSESS THE COUNTRY! NOW are you scared?
How much more in taxes are you going to have to pay in order to pay this off? How much more can you stand to pay? For me, as much as 40% of my paycheck goes into taxes now. And I'm very lucky, my health insurance is COMPLETELY covered by my employer. I pay no premiums at all. So that's not coming out of my check. But this is making me very nervous.
It's an incredibly narrow-minded and stupidly avoidable downward spiral. The government jacks up taxes to pay it's bills. The increase in taxes means more people have less money to pay THEIR bills and have to rely on government assistance. Which, of course, requires more from the government, who increase taxes to pay for it, who send more people to the dole.
It won't end until America is no more. We're running on empty, folks. I believe we are living at the time of the Decline and Fall of the American Empire.

Obama and the media.
You know what I love? I love being able to make comments on news websites on articles posted there. It gives me a chance to voice my opinion in a forum that people will read, unlike this waste of bits.
But, moderated sites (like CNN) piss me off. Yeah I agree that people say things that are totally out of bounds or crude, but not posting comments because they go against the agenda they want to promote is bullshit. I continually post comments on CNNs site blasting Obama (because he's an idiot) and I've yet to see one post make it through moderation. I don't curse, I don't call names, they are straight forward and clearly argued comments against Obama and his insane policies. Of course, CNN wants to make him out to be God.
Used to, media was unbiased, objective (as any human being can be) and honest. Is there ANY media available that is that way any longer? And you wonder why the country is going to hell in a handbasket.

Soul searching
Yeah it's been a while. But no one reads my blog, so who cares?
You know, I've done a lot of soul searching lately. For most of my life I've been a dedicated agnostic. I've been comfortable with that spiritual diagnosis of myself. But lately I've begun to believe there's truly no god. Even a lassez-faire god would not have allowed Obama to run the country into the ground. True all Empires rise and fall, but America has collapsed in a way that makes Hitler's empire look stable by comparison.
Let's look at some history. We talk of the 'Dark Ages' (or Late Antiquity) as a time of horrible ignorance, superstition and misery. We haven't really come very far have we? The masses are all ignorant morons. The mob is too stupid to think for itself beyond its own selfish needs. Yet, we cater to them since there are so DAMN many of them. Because they are votes. This isn't equality. Not everyone is equal. We should mandate a minimum level of education for voters. At least a 2 year college degree, if not 4. That would keep the dumbasses who just want a handout from the Feds from voting in the bastards who will give it to them. It will also inspire an increase in the number of educated people, or it should. And the direction of this country (and the world) will move forward in a civilized and RATIONAL manner. (Not to mention, had this been in place last year that dipshit Obama would NEVER have been elected.
This is the problem with letting everyone who can sign their name vote. Demagogues are BAD. Ancient Rome should us that. Revolutionary France as well. Mob rule is not RULE, it's anarchy. The mob in America has to be the worst mass in the history of the world. Not only are they ignorant, and selfish, but lazy and greedy as well. Stupid bastards are killing America.
We could also fix this problem by doing all the important work in Latin rather than English. That way the morons wouldn't know what we were talking about and would not be able to turn America into the worst kind of welfare state.
See, here's the problem with all this. It's a horrible downward spiral. Provide handouts to the lazy in such a way as to make it better for them to not work. This increases the tax burden for the rest of us. The more we're taxed, the less we have to provide for ourselves, and the more people have to fall back on welfare. Which increases the tax burden on the rest of us even more. See where I'm heading here? Why can't the assholes in Washington see this? Because it keeps getting them elected, that's why. Right now, the tax burden for someone making $50K a year is 33%. So, 33 cents of every dollar made goes to pay some lazy son of a bitch to stay home and do nothing. (More or less.) So, at $50K, the worker brings home 33,500 of that $50K. And $16,500 pays for someone else. That is HALF of the take home pay of that worker. HALF. Are you kidding me?
So, over 2 years, that worker, well educated (to work at a job making $50K/yr) hands over to the Federal government (and state) 1 years salary. Is that FAIR? Hell no. What does he get in return? Nothing. He pays his bills without help from the government. What value is there for his $16,500/year? None. Zero.
And this is mob rule for you. Now, imagine if Obama gets his health care reform. To go along with the 2 TRILLION he's already spent in his first 6+ months in office. The interest on the money he's spent in office is $100 Million a DAY. A day. It boggles the mind. Where will the money come from to pay it off? What he should have done is cut taxes, cut spending and give the working people a break. Not spend more and make it harder on the working class. It's bad enough trying to pay our bills now.

Funny how life changes so fast.
I'm constantly amazed at how much life changes. And how it can change in an instant. A year ago insulting and jeering our then President was considered par for the course. Now, jeering THIS so-called president will get you smacked down. Obama is not God. He's not better than GW. He's proven to be the Socialist he said he wasn't. He's reneged on every promise he's made and he's still pouring troops into Iraq and Afghanistan. Explain to me how he gets the free pass? Are we afraid calling him an asshole will be considered racist? Is that it?
My god, people, he's a joke. He's destroying what little faith we had in the office. He's extorted CEO changes from the largest car maker in the world and then STILL witheld bailout money. What kind of son of a bitch does that? There can be plays about killing Bush, yet Obama is the one we need to take out and it's NOT RIGHT to say that?

Cut costs? Seriously?
I'm continually amazed at the stupidity that is the current American administration. Our esteemed president (and that is said tongue-in-cheek) sees no problem with tossing a trillion dollars to businesses who DESERVE to fail. he's now asking his 'cabinet', to cut $100M. He says 'we need to regain the people's trust'. Is he serious? The only way that could happen is if he takes back the trillion he's handed to companies like AIG.
I just cannot believe the nerve and arrogance of this man. I've tried really hard to think he can do the right things for America. I had 'hope'. Damn, was I wrong. He's put our country in so much debt that if we pay back 1 million dollars a DAY, we're closer to the birth of Christ than we are to paying this bailout off. He's so shortsighted, he wants immediate changes and it doesn't happen that way. He wants to confirm his next term and nothing more. I swear, I'll do my best to keep his dumb ass off the ballot in 4 years. He's an embarrassment to us. The world laughs at the 'stupid Americans' and with his election we've only reinforced that view.

When will the intelligent people in America say they've had enough? When will we rise up and smite that jackasses and idiots who vote this stupid corrupt bastards into office? Where is our breaking point?
We're sitting here watching these MORONS hand over BILLIONS of dollars to companies that have REPEATEDLY shown they can't handle money. AIG and the bonuses. JPMorganChase and the new corporate jets. The only change I've seen is the corruption is more out in the open now that dumbass Obama is running things. I won't call him president. He's not, anymore than I am. This man is beyond a joke. We're in the worst economic crisis possibly in history and the dipshits in America who just want a handout voted this dumbass in. And YOU SEE WHAT YOU ELECTED DICKHEADS?
How's that HOPE and CHANGE working out for ya? Huh?
It is time for the American people to put their foot down and tell the government enough is enough. They won't relinquish power. Anyone with a usable brain cell knows that, we'll have to take it from them. We can't vote them out, they spread like roaches.

Utter Insanity
Anyone who knows me knows I love books. Especially Science Fiction and Fantasy. I've also been reading a lot of History lately and am continually disturbed at the parallels between the late Roman Republic and contemporary America.
But that's not what I think is insane. As I said, I'm a huge SciFi fan. I'm totally hooked on Peter F. Hamilton's Commonwealth books. The Night's Dawn Trilogy and the latest ones 'The Dreaming Void' and 'The Temporal Void' (which I haven't read yet). My point here is that, being a SciFi fan (and a nerd) I really enjoy SciFi TV shows. Okay, some of them. Star Trek and Buck Rogers (for old school fans) and Stargate (SG-1 more than Atlantis although my daughter loves Atlantis). I'm a big Dr. Who fan as well. Of the shows still on the air (I think) I love Eureka. That show kills me sometimes.
So anyway, the point is, I have spent quite a bit of time watching the SciFi channel. And I read on slashdot that they are changing the name to 'SyFy'. What the FUCK? Seriously? Sounds short for syphilis instead of science fiction. I swear I'm sick to death of marketing majors and 'branding'. In the press release for the channel they talk about 'it's all about the brand'. Bullshit it is. It's about SCIENCE FICTION, not about wrestling or hunting ghosts. (Is it me or is Ghost Hunters the stupidest show on TV?)
Since Stargate is off the air I've watched less and less of the channel. Eureka had 8 episodes of Season 3 shown late last year and I've found no news anywhere about when the rest of the season (or Season 4) will be aired. Of course when a channel produces and airs 'Mansquito', high brow entertainment like Eureka is not considered good TV.
If the channel (and I'll never call it 'SyFy') wants to broaden their appeal, then find a name that doesn't suck. If you want to be NBC2, then call it that. That name is insulting to the core audience (geeks) and is too stupid to appeal to anyone else to attract new viewers.
I'd love to launch every marketing exec (and major) into space.

Stimulus? What stimulus?
Yeah, I know. ANOTHER post about politics. But seriously, SOMEONE has got to speak up for realism and practicality, not leprechauns and chasing rainbows as most people in America are doing right now.
Sadly, most Americans are too shortsighted to see the fact that our economic crisis needs a long term approach and not a knee-jerk reaction that we have been getting. Everyone wants it fixed and fix yesterday. It doesn't work that way. Not this time. And of course, the Feds make it worse by spending billions on useless shit under the guise of 'economic stimulus'. $30 Million to save a mouse? Really? How does that stimulate anything?
It's become more clear as time time goes by that Obama is beyond incompetent. That his 'change' was nothing but an empty statement designed to get him elected. I know every politician does that, but people really believed him. You know who else believed so strongly in their leader?
What we're seeing is the collapse of the American Empire into economic chaos and corruption. History has shown time and again this happening and yet all of you stupid voters turned a blind eye to that very fact in the hope of easy money and guarantees. In this 'Information Age' we're still not using the incrdible amounts of data available to us in order to NOT make the mistakes history has shown us have been made in the past.
I was proud to be an American. Until now. The idiocy of the average citizen and the sheer greed of our so-called 'leaders' disgusts me. Watching my beloved country dissolving into chaos before my eyes makes me sick to my stomach. I thought the USA of the future would be better, I wanted my kids to live in a safer, more stable place. And now, sometimes, I question whether I should have even had kids in this time. I love my kids, but the world is falling into entropy.
Yeah, I can hear people saying 'we've heard this all before Chicken Little'. And that's as may be. But look around you. Was there ever a time before where kids were murdering dozens of students in a HS or a University? Was there ever more instances of parents murdering their own children? Was there ever a time where discipline has become a joke and 'time out' is the preferred method?
Was there ever a time when you couldn't send your kids out to play all day? Was there ever a time when your kids were more of a target from child predators and perverts?
NO! Never. Look at it closely. THINK about it. Use your brain, people. Times have changed. I get that. But have they changed for the better? I think not.
I used to get thrown out of my house on Saturday morning after chores and told to not come back until dark. Yet, in this age of GPS enabled phones would you do the same with YOUR kids? Hell no. It's too dangerous, even when you know exactly where your kids are.
I've grown tired of watching the collapse, like a flan in a cupboard. Slowly, painfully and yet unable to stop it. We're watching our own elected officials grab every dime they can in a time when every dime matters. The avarice of Congress is out of control.
When LOBBYISTS get a copy of the final stimulus bill BEFORE the rest of Congress does, it's time for a change. A REAL change, not the bullshit Obama blithely promised.

Books, books and more books
You know, I love books. I figure I've ranted enough about the Bullshit that is the Obama Administration (I use the term 'administration' loosely. So far, it looks like a train wreck.) and concentrate on something that is good.
Books.
I spend a LOT of time reading. I cut off my cable access for it. Well, I cut it off primarily because Charter sucks and is too busy screwing us to actually make anything work. But, I got rid of the TV since, really, there's not a damn thing on worth watching. I have a couple of things I enjoy, Midsomer Murders, Leverage, Burn Notice and Psych, but why pay $60/month for 3 shows (Midsomer Murders isn't shown in America anymore)? I mean it's a joke what they push off as 'entertainment' these days. So, I told Charter to fuck off and have been TV free for over a year now.
This has given me (and my kids) plenty of time to read and trust me, it's a much more enjoyable pastime than sitting in front of the idiot box. While other kids are turning their minds to mush watching Ghost Hunters or some stupid reality show, mine are reading about History, and Science. Fantasy is much better when you use your own imagination. Not to mention the fact that they love to read and can read on a much higher level than most adults I know.
Sadly, the intellectual level of America is in the toilet. There's no interest in reading, just mind numbing repetitiveness on the TV. I'd rather read a book than bar hop. Or go clubbing. Although, I do go sometimes just to watch the idiot white boys who can't tell what color their skin is and the skanky hoes who think their shit don't stink and laugh my ass off at them. Pathetic losers, all of them.
Sadly, literature is a fading commodity. GOOD books are hard to find nowadays. Anyone with 5 minutes (not even 15) of fame writes a book that's poorly designed and executed. And really, what the fuck does Oprah know about literature? Nothing. How many 'authors' of hers has turned out to have made their stories up? Tow? Three? I mean can she really be trusted.
Not to mention, I tend not to read about contemporary items. I live in the present. I don't much like it, actually, why would I want to read more about it?
I much prefer history. It's amazing how the bullshit going on now has been repeated dozens of times in the past. And yet, you idiots out there continue to do that SAME DAMN THINGS your ancestors did. Usually with the same sad results. I get a kick out of that as well. It's funny watching my beloved America collapse like a flan in a cupboard the way the Byzantines, or the Romans or the Ottomans, The Franks, you name it, fell in their turn.

Books.
I spend a LOT of time reading. I cut off my cable access for it. Well, I cut it off primarily because Charter sucks and is too busy screwing us to actually make anything work. But, I got rid of the TV since, really, there's not a damn thing on worth watching. I have a couple of things I enjoy, Midsomer Murders, Leverage, Burn Notice and Psych, but why pay $60/month for 3 shows (Midsomer Murders isn't shown in America anymore)? I mean it's a joke what they push off as 'entertainment' these days. So, I told Charter to fuck off and have been TV free for over a year now.
This has given me (and my kids) plenty of time to read and trust me, it's a much more enjoyable pastime than sitting in front of the idiot box. While other kids are turning their minds to mush watching Ghost Hunters or some stupid reality show, mine are reading about History, and Science. Fantasy is much better when you use your own imagination. Not to mention the fact that they love to read and can read on a much higher level than most adults I know.
Sadly, the intellectual level of America is in the toilet. There's no interest in reading, just mind numbing repetitiveness on the TV. I'd rather read a book than bar hop. Or go clubbing. Although, I do go sometimes just to watch the idiot white boys who can't tell what color their skin is and the skanky hoes who think their shit don't stink and laugh my ass off at them. Pathetic losers, all of them.
Sadly, literature is a fading commodity. GOOD books are hard to find nowadays. Anyone with 5 minutes (not even 15) of fame writes a book that's poorly designed and executed. And really, what the fuck does Oprah know about literature? Nothing. How many 'authors' of hers has turned out to have made their stories up? Tow? Three? I mean can she really be trusted.
Not to mention, I tend not to read about contemporary items. I live in the present. I don't much like it, actually, why would I want to read more about it?
I much prefer history. It's amazing how the bullshit going on now has been repeated dozens of times in the past. And yet, you idiots out there continue to do that SAME DAMN THINGS your ancestors did. Usually with the same sad results. I get a kick out of that as well. It's funny watching my beloved America collapse like a flan in a cupboard the way the Byzantines, or the Romans or the Ottomans, The Franks, you name it, fell in their turn.

It's the same old shit, different administration
I know it seems like this has become a political blog only, but I feel very strongly about pointing out the total fallacy of the Obama administration. I intend on proving that his presidency will be like all the rest, same old shit, different day. Take this for example. In is campaign Obama declared against lobbyists and lobbying as an evil in our government. He's right, but that didn't stop him from lying about not hiring lobbyists for his administration. He's even requested exemption from HIS OWN FUCKING RULE to allow the appointment.
Does anyone see CHANGE in this? No. It's the same story as every other administration since Teddy Roosevelt. Obama is nothing but a well spoken conman who lied cheated and stole to get to be president. He said the right things at the right time, but will that be good for America?

His stimulus plan will fail, just like Bush's failed. Instead of spending MORE of our money for us, how about not taking so fucking much out of our pockets instead? But no, the Feds know what's best for us stupid Americans. They much prefer filtering it through THEIR wallets first then give us back what's left over. Which, in this day and age, is virtually nothing.
I'm sick to death of this goverment ripping me off. I"m sick of MY money being handed to greedy CEOs who destroyed the companies they were supposed to improve only to have the money go into their pockets as 'bonuses'. How can the government sit there and do nothing? Simple, those same companies bribed our officials to do just that.
It's disgusting. It's a joke. And it needs to stop. When will all of us intelligent people rise up and smite those fuckers in Washington? It'll only take one nuke on DC when congress is in session to put a stop to this nonsense.
When the power base is this firmly entrenched only revolution can replace it. It'll be bloody, it'll be hard. But IT HAS TO BE DONE or America is finished. We can't go on like this. It's that damn simple.

Obama's last day in office. I'm counting down the days. Sadly this will happen after the end of the latest Mayan cycle (which will be late December 2012), but maybe there's something to that after all. This man will go down in history as the last President of a decadent and corrupt civilization the likes of which make the Romans all look like saints. Never in history has such a small group of people exerted so much control over so large a population as our Federal government has over us. They are not here to serve us, they are our Masters. I don't understand why everyone can't see that. They serve only themselves and to further their own (and the parties) interests and nothing more. How else would they be allowed to spend 700 BILLION dollars on a handful of really large corporations 'to help them out of financial crisis' and not do the same for the small business owners and families?
Is that right at all? Is that morally responsible? HELL NO. And while our Congressmen can continue to be bribed by lobbyists (and it's a bribe, let's not mince words here) then the ones with the money will continue to benefit from the bribes and the common people get NOTHING.
I'm sorry, but this country needs to be cleansed of all of that. Starting at the top. Term limits for EVERYONE, and once a Congressman's term is over, he CANNOT run for the same office again. NO LOBBYING. The greatest evil this country has. And the line item veto for the president. Without that we'll collapse under the weight of our own debt.
I fear for this country. It's not the strong nation it was 20 years ago. It's on the verge of a collapse more swift and sudden that the Western Empire in AD 476. And people the world over are drolling over the carcass as we speak.
Is that what everyone wants? Is that what the American people want? It must be since they continue to let things go the way they are. Every American citizen is FAT, LAZY and STUPID for allowing this to happen. It all your own damn fault and you can't see beyond your own petty needs to look long term.

What is it with women?
I mean really, what is it with them? It's insane how they act. I am having surgery on Friday, and the only person I want at the surgery is my mother. No, not because I'm a Momma's Boy (Although I am to a point, I love my mother. I was there when she needed me most.), but because I will need someone to drive me home afterwards since I'm having my feet operated on to fix some bone spurs.
Now, my girlfriend gets ALL cheesed off because I 'didn't want her there'. Which isn't true. I do want her there. But, then again, I don't. I just want to have the surgery and then get the hell out of dodge. So, for the last 2 days she's been griping at me about this. I told all my family to stay away too. I don't like being hounded right after surgery, so let me resst and get over it and then come ask me how I"m doing. Not just AFTER the fact. Damn. What's so hard about that? No one is happy about it, but they understand. Except for the gf. So, after much wailing and gnashing of teeth, I relent. And guess what, NOW she says she doesn't want to go! What the fuck? Are you serious? You bitch and moan about it and then DON'T go when I say you can? Why bother? Just because you're a damn woman and you think you can get away with it? I think not, dear.
This isn't how the game is played in my world. I've had my fill of psychotics and bitches, so you can hop the next bus outta Dodge if you are going to be that way. I don't need that bullshit. Not now, not ever. If you are mad, be mad, the get the FUCK over it. Don't hound me about 'why don't you want me there?' when I tell you time and again, I don't want anyone there, and then tell me you don't want to go anyway. Obviously, some women are convinced that we'll put up with almost anything for a piece of ass, but I gotta tell ya. Not this one. I can use my hand. It won't piss me off, or pull some bullshit stunt like yesterday. AND I don't have to take it out for dinner just to get some.

Yeah, I've had enough....
Can someone PLEASE explain to me how that IDIOT Obama gets a nice neat little placard in front of his podium for the 5 million press conferences he has (I hear he's doing one the next time he takes a dump) that says 'OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT ELECT'. Are you SHITTING ME? There's no such office, he's not EVEN the President-elect yet. Not until the Electoral College do their thing next week.
My God, this is ridiculous. The media coverage is beyond HYPE, it's outta control. Seriously. No one should take this man seriously if he stands up there with that stupid placard on his podium. I can't believe I ever thought I would say this. I'm DISGUSTED to be an American today. I'm disheartened. I cannot believe the idiot people of America voted in a non-voting Senator as President and a bootlicking scumbag as VP. We are officially witnessing the death throes of the United States of America.
Look back, everyone, to the Roman Republic. Look at the pandering to the lowest common denominator, look at the 'grain dole'. Look at the fact that hardworking honest people were being taxed to death to support the thousands, tens of thousands getting free food in the city of Rome. Look at the economy as the taxpayers become paupers and have to go on the dole, leaving more mouths to feed and less to TAX. This is the death knell of America. Oh, it may be 50 years before utter collapse, but it WILL happen. No one in the last 2,000 years has learned a damn thing from other civilizations mistakes.
I hate to say this, because I was brought up to respect the President. Not this one. Not now, not ever.
